The foundations of the relations between the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Turkey were laid down by the "Cooperation Protocol between the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Turkey" signed on 24 March 1992 during the Chairman of the Supreme Assembly of Nakhchivan AR Heydar Aliyev's visit to the Republic of Turkey.

At present, there are many Turkish enterprises and 3 Turkish high schools in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic. Furthermore, many Turkish citizens study at Nakhchivan State University.

Consulate-General of the Republic of Turkey have been functioning in Nakhchivan since 05 February 1993.
Border crossing point between the Republic of Turkey and the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic has been functioning since 1991 and 24-hour work regime is applied since July 2008.

The chronology of the relations of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic with the Republic of Turkey:

The temporary bridge connecting the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic with the Republic of Turkey in the territory of Sadarak district of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic was given into usage on October 29, 1991.
On November 13, 1991, the correspondents of "Milliyet" and "Hurriyet" newspapers of Turkey as well as "Washington Post" of USA paid a visit to the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic in order to get acquainted with political and economic situation. Meanwhile, Heydar Aliyev, the Chairman of the Supreme Assembly of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, held press-conference for foreign journalists.
On November 18, 1991, delegation led by Aytekin Akgun, head of the department for construction of railway, port and airport of the Ministry of Transportation of the Republic of Turkey, paid a visit to Nakhchivan. During visit, an agreement between the delegation and the government of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic was reached regarding the construction of the bridge on Araz River as well as the foundation of the crossing.
On January 19, 1992, the delegation commissioned by S.Demirel, the President of the Republic of Turkey, met with Heydar Aliyev, the Chairman of the Supreme Assembly of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic. Forthcoming crossing point between Nakhchivan and Turkey was discussed during meeting.
On March 22-25, 1992, the Chairman of the Supreme Assembly of the Nakhchivan AR was on an official visit to the Republic of Turkey upon the invitation of President T.Özal and Prime Minister S.Demirel. Mainly, the political situation and blockade condition of the region and military occupation of the Armenians were discussed in the meetings. On March 24, 1992, "The cooperation protocol between the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Turkey" was signed. In the ceremony S.Demirel and H.Aliyev delivered speeches. Prime Minister S.Demirel denounced Armenian military aggression against Azerbaijan and reiterated that required assistance and support would be ensured for Nakhchivan by Turkey in accordance with 1921 Kars Treaty.
On May 21, 1992, delegation consisting of the officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkey commissioned by S.Demirel, Prime Minister of the Republic of Turkey, paid a visit to Nakhchivan. Delegation met with the Chairman of Supreme Assembly of Nakhchivan AR during the visit and got acquainted with the situation in the regions in which war operations were conducted.
On May 28, 1992, S.Demirel, Prime Minister of the Republic of Turkey, visiting Nakhchivan participated in the inauguration ceremony of "Umid" (Hope) bridge between Nakhchivan and Turkey.
On June 01-05, 1992, Heydar Aliyev, the Chairman of Supreme Assembly of Nakhchivan AR, paid a visit to Turkey upon the invitation of S.Demirel, Prime Minister of the Republic of Turkey. Delivery of financial credits by Turkish government in accordance with the cooperation protocol signed between parties on 24 March 1992 was coordinated and the opening of Consulate-General of the Republic of Turkey in Nakhchivan was discussed.
On August 10-14, 1992, the Chairman of Supreme Assembly of Nakhchivan AR visited Turkey upon the invitation of Prime Minister of the Republic of Turkey S.Demirel. In the course of the visit, the Chairman participated in ceremonial meeting regarding the establishment of Iqdir province, afterwards headed to Ankara.
On February 05, 1993, Consulate-General of the Republic of Turkey in Nakhchivan started its functioning.
On February 05-06, 1993, Altan Karamanoglu, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Turkey to the Republic of Azerbaijan, paid a visit to the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic. In the course of the visit, ambassador participated in the inauguration ceremony of the Consulate-General of the Republic of Turkey in Nakhchivan and received by the Chairman of Supreme Assembly of Nakhchivan AR.
On April 16, 1993, the Chairman of Supreme Assembly of Nakhchivan AR paid a business visit to the neighboring regions of Turkey. In the course of the visit, the Chairman of Supreme Assembly met with state minister of Turkey O.Gilarchioglu.
On April 19-25, 1993, Heydar Aliyev, Chairman of Supreme Assembly of Nakhchivan AR, headed to Turkey in order to participate in the funeral rites of the President of the Republic of Turkey T.Özal. During the visit, Chairman of Supreme Assembly met with Prime Minister S.Demirel in Ankara.
On March 12-17, 1996, Vasif Talibov, the Chairman of Supreme Assembly of Nakhchivan AR, paid a business trip to Turkey. During the visit, the Chairman of Supreme Assembly conducted meetings with the president, prime minister and parliament chairman of the Republic of Turkey.
On July 11-13, 1996, international conference on "Nakhchivan in international sources" was held in Nakhchivan upon the order of the Chairman of Supreme Assembly of Nakhchivan AR. Crucial scientific discussions were conducted and lectures were delivered about the history of Nakhchivan in the symposium in which researchers and scholars from Turkey were also participating.
On October 23, 1998, scholars from Nakhchivan participated in the international symposium on "Review of history on the eve of 21st century: Turk-Armenian relations" organized in Igdir.
On June 12, 1999, the delegation consisting of officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Turkey under the leadership of the governor of Igdir paid a visit to the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic. In the course of the visit, delegation met with the Chairman of Supreme Assembly of Nakhchivan AR.
On December 02-03, 1999, international symposium on "Nakhchivan and Kars in our recent history" was held in Kars, Turkey, due to the 75-year anniversary of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic. The Chairman of Supreme Assembly of Nakhchivan AR lectured in the symposium on "Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic on the development path".
On July 02, 2001, opening ceremony of memorial erected for the honor of Turkish soldiers killed during the fight against Armenian occupiers in Nakhchivan in 1918-1920 was held in martyrs' avenue.
On February 11, 2002, delegation led by Seyid Yujel, chief executive of Turkey Sugar Plants Company, paid a visit to Nakhchivan. In the course of the visit, delegation was received by the Chairman of the Supreme Assembly of Nakhchivan AR.
On March 12-13, 2002, Unal Chevikoz, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Turkey to the Republic of Azerbaijan, paid a visit to Nakhchivan. In the course of the visit, the ambassador met with the Chairman of Supreme Assembly of Nakhchivan AR.
On March 13, 2002, Rashad Doghru, state minister of the Republic of Turkey upon the relations with Turkic republics and communities, paid a visit to Nakhchivan. In the course of the visit, the ambassador met with the Chairman of Supreme Assembly of Nakhchivan AR. Members of Turkish parliaments Abbas Bozyel and Nidayi Seven, governor of Igdir Mustafa Tamer, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Turkey to the Republic of Azerbaijan Unal Chevikoz and Consul-General of the Republic of Turkey in Nakhchivan Gunsel Goktan participated in the meeting too.
On June 27, 2002, major-general Umid Galandar, defense attaché of the Embassy of the Republic of Turkey in the Republic of Azerbaijan, paid a visit to Nakhchivan. During the visit, the defense attaché was received by the Chairman of Supreme Assembly of Nakhchivan AR.
On May 24-25, 2003, the Chairman of Supreme Assembly of Nakhchivan AR visited Turkey in order to participate in Igdir-Nakhchivan solidarity festival. In the course of the visit, the Chairman of Supreme Assembly conducted meetings with Musa Kuchukkurd, governor of Igdir, and N.Aras, head of Igdir municipality.
On June 06, 2003, inauguration ceremony of Heydar Aliyev Park and memorial for the honor of National Leader Heydar Aliyev's 80-year jubilee was held in Kars, Turkey. The delegation led by the Chairman of Supreme Assembly of Nakhchivan AR visited Kars in order to take part in the ceremony. 9th president of Turkey S.Demirel, governors of Kars, Ardahan and Igdir and MPs participated in the ceremony. The Chairman of Supreme Assembly of Nakhchivan AR delivered speech in the ceremony.
On December 20, 2003, a delegation from Van Yuzunju Yil University of Turkey led by Prof. Muammer Karaeyvaz came to Nakhchivan in order to express condolences to the Chairman of Supreme Assembly of Nakhchivan AR regarding the decease of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan and National Leader Heydar Aliyev.
On December 25, 2003, governor of Igdir Musa Kuchukkurt visited Nakhchivan in order to present condolences to the Chairman of Supreme Assembly of Nakhchivan AR regarding the decease of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan and National Leader Heydar Aliyev.
On April 20, 2004, a delegation led by Tunjer Kayalar, foreign affairs adviser of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Turkey, paid a visit to Nakhchivan. In the course of the visit, delegation was received by the Chairman of Supreme Assembly of Nakhchivan AR.
On May 22, 2004, Denizhan Tunjer, CEO of "San Deks Import and Export Trade Ltd." Company in Turkey, visited Nakhchivan. During the meeting with the Chairman of Supreme Assembly of Nakhchivan AR, an agreement regarding the establishment of sausage plant in Nakhchivan was signed between Nakhchivan AR Ministry of Economic Development and the company.
On October 14-15, 2004, Ahmet Unal Chevikoz, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Turkey to the Republic of Azerbaijan, paid a visit to Nakhchivan. In the course of the visit, the ambassador was received by the Chairman of Supreme Assembly of Nakhchivan AR.
On December 19, 2004, Erdal Aksoy, CEO of "Jengiz Aksoy" company, visited Nakhchivan. During the meeting with the Chairman of Supreme Assembly of Nakhchivan AR, a contract as to building of Water Power Station with the total power of 4.5 MVt on the Heydar Aliyev Waterhouse was signed.
On January 13-14, 2005, a delegation consisting of the officials of Ministry of Agriculture and Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Republic of Turkey paid a visit to Nakhchivan. The purpose of visit was to get acquainted with the economic development of the autonomous republic. In the course of the visit, the delegation was received by the Chairman of Supreme Assembly of Nakhchivan AR.
On January 01, 2005, the delegation led by Halil Ulusoy, governor of Igdir, paid a visit to Nakhchivan. During the visit, the delegation met with the Chairman of Supreme Assembly of Nakhchivan AR.
On May 29, 2005, the delegation of members of the Union of People from Kars, Ardahan and Igdir functioning in Ankara, Turkey, visited Nakhchivan. In the course of the visit, the delegation was received by the Chairman of Supreme Assembly of Nakhchivan AR.
On September 01, 2005, a brigade commander major-general Tarik Ozkut and Igdir Border regiment-commander Levent Cholak visited Nakhchivan. In the course of the visit, representatives were received by the Chairman of Supreme Assembly of Nakhchivan AR.
On January 12, 2006, the delegation, consisting of member of Turkish Great National Assembly Dursun Akdemir, businessmen accompanying him and members of the board of Igdir Center of his party, visited Nakhchivan with the purpose of acquaintance. In the course of the visit, the delegation was received by the Chairman of Supreme Assembly of Nakhchivan AR.
On March 24, 2006, Turan Morali, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Turkey to the Republic of Azerbaijan, paid a visit to Nakhchivan. In the course of the visit, the ambassador was received by the Chairman of Supreme Assembly of Nakhchivan AR.
On April 04, 2006, the delegation consisting of members of Turkish Great National Assembly (TGNA) and businessmen under the leadership of Mahmut Kochak, member of TGNA and head of "Policy Center", visited Nakhchivan. In the course of the visit, the delegation met with the Chairman of Supreme Assembly of Nakhchivan AR.
On April 15-16, 2006, Fikret Karaman, deputy chief of Religious Affairs Department of the Republic of Turkey, paid a visit to Nakhchivan. In the course of the visit, the guest was received by the Chairman of Supreme Assembly of Nakhchivan AR.
On May 22, 2006, governor of Rize region, head of municipality in that region, chairman of Rize Trade chamber and director of "Chaykur" (tea) company visited Nakhchivan. In the course of the visit, representatives met the Chairman of Supreme Assembly of Nakhchivan AR. Discussions for the development of interregional economic cooperation was conducted in the meeting.
On June 04, 2006, a delegation led by chief executive of "Turksheker" Company paid a visit to Nakhchivan. In the course of the visit, the delegation met with the Chairman of Supreme Assembly of Nakhchivan AR.
On August 23, 2006, Rashad Uman, special representative of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkey on Russia and Caucasus affairs, paid a visit to Nakhchivan. In the course of the visit, the ambassador was received by the Chairman of Supreme Assembly of Nakhchivan AR.
On October 11, 2006, delegation consisting of the members of Marmara Foundation of Turkey visited Nakhchivan. President of foundation Akkan Suver, Member of Parliament and state minister Guldal Akshit, and MPs Abdulaziz Yazar and Dursun Akdemir met with the Chairman of Supreme Assembly of Nakhchivan AR.
On November 14, 2006, a delegation led by deputy Chairman of Supreme Assembly of Nakhchivan AR participated in the event held for "86th anniversary of the liberation of Igdir" upon the invitation of Igdir Municipality.
On November 20-21, 2006, 5-person delegation consisting of chiefs of Culture and Tourism Departments of Igdir, Kars and Erzurum regions of Turkey participated in the international tourism conference on "Tourism in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic: Progress and Perspectives".
On November 29, 2006, delegation led by governor of Igdir Saim Saffet Karahisarlı paid a visit to Nakhchivan. As part of delegation head of Igdir Municipality N.Aras, public prosecutor of the region M.Kuchuk, police chief Y.Chalkvur and local businessmen met with the Chairman of Supreme Assembly of Nakhchivan AR in the course of the visit.
On March 06, 2007, delegation led by the Chairman of Supreme Assembly of Nakhchivan AR visited Igdir upon the invitation of Igdir governor. During the visit, the Chairman of Supreme Assembly met with Igdir governor Saim Saffet Karahisarli and head of Igdir Municipality Nurettin Aras.
On March 14-16, 2007, delegation led by R.Aras, chairman of Kars Region Organization of the Justice and Development Party, paid a visit to the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic. In the course of the visit, the delegation was received by the Chairman of Supreme Assembly of Nakhchivan AR.
On March 19-22, 2007, dance-folklore groups from Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic participated in the "Novruz festivals" held in Igdir.
On April 06, 2007, Baku representative of TIKA Serhat Kuchukkurt and his assistance paid a visit to the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic.
On April 23, 2007, teachers and students from Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic participated in the events organized in Igdir, Kars and Erzurum for "23 April - National Sovereignty and Children Holiday" upon the invitation of governorships of Igdir, Kars and Erzurum.
On May 26, 2007, a dance-folklore group from Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic participated in the "Aghri Mountain Korhan Plateau festivals" held in Igdir.
On May 26-28, 2007, Huseyin Avni Karslioghlu, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Turkey in Azerbaijan, paid a visit to Nakhchivan. In the course of the visit, the ambassador was received by the Chairman of Supreme Assembly of Nakhchivan AR.
On May 28, 2007, a grand ceremony was held in Sadarak crossing point owing to the 15th anniversary of "Bridge of Hope" (Umud) connecting Turkey with Azerbaijan. The Chairman of Supreme Assembly of Nakhchivan AR, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Turkey in Azerbaijan Huseyin Avni Karslioghlu and Igdir governor S.S.Karahisarli participated and delivered speeches in the event.
On June 24, 2007, a dance-folklore group from Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic participated in the "Apricot Festival" held in Igdir by the governorship.
On July 28-31, 2007, a football team from Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic took part in the international friendship tournament organized in Igdir by the Youth and Sport Department of Igdir governorship.
On August 31, 2007, the directors of AYDIS Construction and Trade Ltd. Company and Chelikler Construction Company as well as Nakhchivani officials on this field were received by the Chairman of Supreme Assembly of Nakhchivan AR in order to sign the contract regarding the construction of Bilav and Tivi canal-type Water Power Stations on Gilanchay river. Metin Chelikler, chief of initiative group that will carry out the project, and Asef Mammadov, first deputy of Nakhchivan AR Prime Minister, signed contract on their parts.
On September 15, 2007, Mehmet Bilir, then newly appointed Consul-General of the Republic of Turkey in Nakhchivan, launched his official service. On 17 September 2007, Consul-General of the Republic of Turkey in Nakhchivan was received by the Chairman of the Supreme Assembly of the Nakhchivan AR.
On September 17-18, 2007, members of Turk-Azerbaijan cooperation council on foreign economic relations of Turkey and delegation accompanying them visited Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic. In the course of the visit, the delegation consisting of governors of Igdir, Kars, Ardahan, Aghri, head of municipalities of Igdir and Kars, directors of Igdir and Aghri Trade Chambers, Chief of Igdir Trade Exchange, and some Turkish businessmen met with the Chairman of Supreme Assembly of Nakhchivan AR.
On October 23, 2007, a delegation led by Nakhchivan AR Minister of Economic Development visited Turkey upon the invitation of Turk-Azerbaijan cooperation council on foreign relations of the Republic of Turkey.
On October 26-30, 2007, boxing team of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic took part in the first international friendship tournament organized in Igdir upon the Republic Holiday of Turkey by Igdir Youth and Sport Department.
On November 25, 2007, Dilek Sabancı, daughter of former president of "Sabancı Holding" Sakıp Sabancı, and the delegation accompanying her visited Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic. Officials such as Igdir governor S.S.Karahisarlı, head of Igdir municipality N.Aras, commander of Igdir garrison and internal armies were also there within the delegation.
On March 17-23, 2008, relevant sport teams of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic took part in the international friendship tournament on athletics, basketball, football and volleyball organized by Igdir Youth and Sport Department in Igdir.
On March 22-23, 2008, upon the invitation folklore-dance groups of Nakhchivan State Philharmonic Society participated in the Novruz events held in Igdir by the municipality.
On 05, 12 and 19 April 2008, expedition consisting of teachers and students of the geography faculty of Ataturk University, Turkey, visited Nakhchivan in order to get acquainted with the geographical situation of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic.
On April 22-24, 2008, a group consisting of pupils of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic participated in the "23 April - National Sovereignty and Children Holiday" festivals organized by Igdir Governorship.
On May 03-04, 2008, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Turkey to the Republic of Azerbaijan Hulusi Kilich and his wife Gunay Kilich paid a visit to the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic. In the course of the visit, the ambassador was received by the Chairman of Supreme Assembly of Nakhchivan AR.
On June 03-04, 2008, the delegation under the leadership of Recep Tayyip Erdoghan, Prime Minister of the Republic of Turkey, paid a visit to the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic. In the course of the visit, face-to-face and extensive meetings were held between the Prime Minister and the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev.
On 14 July - 08 August 2008, two scholars from the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic visited Turkey in order to take part in the "Introduction seminar on education in Turkish, Turkish culture and national education system" held in Istanbul, Turkey.
On August 12, 2008, the delegation led by Musa Kulaklikaya, chairman of the Turkish Cooperation and Development Agency (TIKA), paid a visit to the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic. In the course of the visit, the delegation met with the first deputy of the Chairman of Supreme Assembly of Nakhchivan AR and some other officials.
On 16-19 October 2008, the minister of economic development of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic and three owners participated in the "First Summit of Trabzon Silk Way Businessmen" held in Trabzon, Turkey, by the Foreign Trade Department of Turkey, Chamber of Trade and Industry of Trabzon and Exporters of East Black Sea upon the invitation of Kurshad Tuzmen, state minister of the Republic of Turkey, and Foreign Economic Relations Council of Turkey. Along with Azerbaijan, state officials and businessmen from 26 countries participated in the event.
On 20-25 October 2008, seven linguist scholars from the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic - Abulfaz Guliyev, Adil Baghirov, Sevindik Valiyev, Akif Imanli, Elbayi Magsudov, Firudin Rzayev and Galiba Hajiyeva participated in the "6th International Turkish Language Congress". Scholars from 34 countries took part in this congress which is held in every 5 years. Our scholars delivered lecture in the event.
On 28-29 October 2008, the boxing team of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic attended to the "Republican Cup International Boxing Tournament" organized by the Executive Power of Igdir of the Repulic of Turkey.
On 25-26 October 2008, a dance-folklore group of Nakhchivan State Philharmonics participated in the "Legend of Aghri Mountain Culture and Art Days" program held in Doghubayazit by the Executive Power of this province.
On 05-06 November 2008, the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev paid an official visit to Turkey upon the invitation of the President of the Republic of Turkey Abdullah Gul. During the visit, the Chairman of the Supreme Assembly of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic was represented in the delegation accompanying the President.
On 10-11 March 2009, delegation led by Izzet Özgench, the Deputy Chairman of the Council of Higher Education of the Republic of Turkey, paid a visit to Nakhchivan. In the course of the visit, the delegation was received by the the Chairman of Supreme Assembly of the Nakhchivan AR.
On July 08, 2009, delegation comprising high officials of Turkish Army visited Nakhchivan. In the course of the visit, the delegation was received by the Chairman of Supreme Assembly of the Nakhchivan AR.
On August 08, 2009, delegation led by Taner Yıldız, Minister of Energy and Natural Resources of the Republic of Turkey, paid a visit to Nakhchivan. Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Turkey to the Republic of Azerbaijan and director-chief of the BOTAŞ company of Turkey were also within the delegation. In the course of the visit, the delegation met with the Chairman of Supreme Assembly of the Nakhchivan AR. Furthermore, under the framework of the next stage of the negotiations between State Oil Company of the Azerbaijan Republic and BOTAŞ company of Turkey on the capacity and price of Azerbaijani gas being sold to Turkey, protocol of intention on energy exchange was signed in Nakhchivan.
On September 15, 2009, the two-year official term of Mehmet Bilir, Consul-General of the Republic of Turkey in Nakhchivan, was completed. Newly appointed Consul-General Ayhan Enginar started his works on 15 September 2009 and was received by the Chairman of Supreme Assembly of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic on 17 September 2009.
On October 05, 2009, Abdulhamit Öveç, coordinator of the Religious Affairs Department of Turkey on religious issues in Nakhchivan, was received by the Chairman of Supreme Assembly of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic upon the conclusion his work-term in Nakhchivan.
On December 05, 2009, a delegation led by Igdir governor Saim Saffet Karahisarlı and comprising representatives of executive as well as industrial regions of Igdir and Tekirdagh-Cherkezkoy visited Nakhchivan. In the course of the visit, the delegation met with the 1st deputy of the Chairman of Supreme Assembly of Nakhchivan AR.
On January 21-22, 2010, chief-executive and procurement director of TEDAŞ electric company of Turkey visited Nakhchivan.
On 12-15 April 2010, Gulsin Onay, well-known Turkish pianist and state artist of the Republic of Turkey, visited Nakhchivan. On April 13, 2010, the popular pianist performed solo concerto in Heydar Aliyev Palace.
On 26-29 April 2010, the Chairman of the Supreme Assembly of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic paid an official visit to Turkey upon the invitation of the foreign minister of the Republic of Turkey. In the course of the visit, the Chairman of the Supreme Assembly of the Nakhchivan AR held meetings with the President of the Republic of Turkey Abdullah Gül, Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu, State Minister Hayati Yazıcı and the Commander of Turkish Armed Forces Ilker Başbuğ. The Chairman of the Supreme Assembly, moreover, met with S.Demirel, former President of Turkey, and S.S.Karahisarlı, Governor of Igdir, during the visit.
On May 08, 2010, the governors of Kars, Ardahan and Igdir regions of the Republic of Turkey visited Nakhchivan. In the course of the visit, the governors were received by the Chairman of Supreme Assembly of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic.
On 25-26 May 2010, the delegation headed by Temel Kotil, director-chief of "Anadolu JET" company of Turkish Airlines, visited Nakhchivan. In the course of the visit, the Agreement "on the Launch of Istanbul-Nakhchivan-Istanbul Flight by June 2010" was signed between Anadolu JET company and Nakhchivan International Airport.
In June 2010, international conference on "Love and peace path from Nizami to Yunis Emre and from Ataturk to Heydar Aliyev" was held in Bursa, Turkey, and international symposium dedicated to the effective utilization and management of natural resources was held in 19 May University, Samsun, Turkey. Representatives from Nakhchivan participated and gave lectures in both of these events.
On June 24, 2010, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Turkey to Azerbaijan H.Kilich, deputy director-chief of Turkish Airlines O.Sivrikaya, director for regional flights of "Anadolu Jet" company S.Alan and director of Azerbaijan Office of Turkish Airlines N.Shark visited Nakhchivan. In the course of the visit, the representatives were received by the Chairman of the Supreme Assembly of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic. The first Istanbul-Nakhchivan-Istanbul flight was realized at the same day in accordance with the relevant agreement. A ceremonial event was held in the Nakhchivan International Airport upon this occasion.
On 01-02 July 2010, a delegation headed by the chairman of the Nakhchivan AR State Customs Committee paid a visit to Turkey in order to participate in the meeting held in Ankara between the working groups for customs affairs.
