On November 23, 2017 Deputy Head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic Vusal Alakbarli met with Head of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in Azerbaijan Elena Ajmone Sessera,.

Expressing sincere greetings to the guest V.Alakbarli noted that the existing cooperation between the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and our country, as well as the activities of this international organization in Azerbaijan, were particularly praiseworthy, especially about the benefits of various projects implemented in border areas.

The Head of the Delegation highly emphasized the economic development of the autonomous republic and expressed his satisfaction with his second visit noting that the meeting held in Nakhchivan State University was an important part of this visit. Elena Aymone Sessera spoke about the large-scale reforms in the penitentiary service, legislative and institutional measures, and stressed the importance of co-operation with law enforcement bodies of the autonomous republic.

In his turn, Vusal Alakbarli noted the successful development of Nakhchivan's relations with international organizations and expressed confidence in organizing the projects intended to be implemented by the ICRC.

During the meeting, the discussions were held on other issues.
