On 19 December 2019, Mr. Vasif Talibov, Chairman of the Supreme Assembly of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic met with Mrs. Melek Chakmak, head of the Office for Partnership and Coordination of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations in Azerbaijan.

Chairman of the Supreme Assembly expressed his gratitude to the guest for the event held under the title "Increasing the role of the private sector in achieving the sustainable development goals" in Nakhchivan. Noting about the relations between Azerbaijan and the Food and Agriculture Organization of UN, the Chairman of the Supreme Assembly gave detailed information about the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic and the work done in the field of food security and agricultural development. Speaking about the activities of households in the autonomous republic, as well as the growing export potential, the Chairman of the Supreme Assembly emphasized the importance of awareness and the use of advanced methods in agriculture and expressed his confidence that the event would be benefitial in this regard.

Mr. Mammad Musayev, President of the National Confederation of Entrepreneurs (Employers) Organizations of the Republic of Azerbaijan expressed that the development of private sector and support for entrepreneurship in Nakhchivan is an example of the attention paid to agricultural sector.

Mrs. Melek Chakmak thanked for the warm welcome and hospitality. Stressing great potential of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic in the field of agriculture, the guest noted that the organization which she represents attaches great importance to the cooperation with autonomous republic.
