On 27 September 2019, Vusal Alakbarli, Head of Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic met with Sayed Ahmed Husseini, the newly appointed Consul General of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Nakhchivan.

Head of Department congratulated the Consul General on his new appointment and wished him success in his future career.

Expressing his gratitude for the warm reception, the Consul General said that efforts would be made to further strengthen bilateral relations during his diplomatic term.

The sides exchanged views on a number of issues of mutual interest between the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic and Iran.
